This learning event is right for you if you are an early years/primary/secondary educator or leader responsible for curriculum decisions in your school.

Description                                      

From the end of April to July 2021, ACARA is seeking consultation and feedback on the refinements and changes made to the Australian Curriculum from Foundation to Year 10. As curriculum leaders and teachers, passionate about your learning area, you will come away with the tools and strategies to facilitate a professional conversation with colleagues around the proposed changes. At the close of the consultation process, all feedback will be considered before the curriculum goes live in 2022. This is an exciting time to be able to share your working knowledge, insights, and perspectives of the curriculum from the coal face and impact the learning outcomes for all Australian children.

This learning event supports creating best practice toward meeting the following VRQA standard(s):

Presenter information

Helen Schiele                    

Helen has worked in the educational field for some 27 years. She has developed professional learning opportunities in the areas of curriculum design, differentiation, professional learning communities, Cognitive Coaching, and literacy and numeracy strategies.  Prior to entering the primary and secondary areas, Helen worked extensively in early childhood and is key a representative for the Independent schools’ sector in the ECEC field. As a Curriculum Director representing ISV at the National Curriculum Directors Committee of ACARA, she has been an active representative in the review of the Australian Curriculum. Helen has completed her Master’s in Education by research and is now completing her Doctoral studies in ‘collective efficacy in education.

 

 

 

 

 

Hilary Dixon

Hilary Dixon was the Senior Manager of Curriculum at the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) from 2016 to 2020. She managed and led projects that supported national curriculum implementation, and a program of research into international curriculum design. She is currently contracted to ACARA to lead the review of the Australian Curriculum: Languages. She has been actively involved in the OECD’s The Future of Education and Skills 2030 project and was a member of the project’s Advisory Group. Hilary has extensive experience in curriculum design and development internationally, nationally and at state/regional levels. Her work is grounded in school experiences. Hilary holds a BA (Hons) Dip Ed, majoring in French, from the University of Sydney, and is an active member of a number of professional associations and boards.
