This learning event is right for you if you are keen to grow your knowledge and understanding about authentic assessment and how it might be implemented in your classroom. You might be an experienced teacher who wants to develop your expertise or a new teacher who wants to revisit key content from your pre-service days.
There are many references to authentic assessment in contemporary literature and many of us have slightly hazy ideas about what this means in practice. Learn about the characteristics of authentic assessment, why is it gaining increased attention and how to plan for it in your classroom.
Authentic assessment creates opportunities for students to perform tasks that demonstrate meaningful application of essential knowledge and skills. Capabilities are embedded in authentic assessment tasks, creating opportunities for students to demonstrate their progress against skills such as communication, problem-solving, team-work and self-management.
