This learning event is right for you if you are interested in creating powerful, transdisciplinary projects with real-world impact.
In terms of engagement, there are no more pressing and relevant priorities than the Sustainable Development Goals. We will use these goals as a provocation to use a STE(A)M lens, coupled with design thinking, to create deeply challenging and engaging projects.
On day one, we will explore the concepts and undertake our own design sprint to practise the skills and reflect on the key pedagogies.
On day two, we will use some design structures, including hexagonal curriculum mapping, to design, present and receive critique on a project plan we can take away and use.
The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. What better provocations for the young people in our care to explore.
This learning event supports creating best practice toward the following VRQA standard(s):
- Curriculum and Student Learning – Student learning outcomes
- deeper understanding of Sustainable Development Goals
- deeper understanding of design thinking as an approach that can underpin STE(A)M projects
- a completed and critiqued project plan.
Chris Harte is the Director of Unstuck Learning, Australia. He focuses on learning and innovation, bringing research, experience and extensive knowledge networks together to forge great learning for all. Chris has particular expertise in the following: language learning pedagogy and language specific support (English, French and Spanish), design thinking at an organisational and individual level, digital technology and learning spaces (both physical and virtual), learner centred pedagogy and learning models, strategies to enhance higher order thinking, learner efficacy and engagement, formative assessment strategies and learning analytics.
