Description                                    

The Learning Landscape gives learners a concrete way to understand and improve their engagement in the learning process. It encourages students to undertake learning journeys, where they discover new knowledge and understandings, and ascend the mountains of expertise. Importantly, it helps students to realise that their success is a result of what they do, not who they are.

In the Learning Landscape, there are four different types of Challenge Pits. Prepare your students to recognise and traverse these pits, and to climb out by filling their backpacks with powerful Habits of Mind. Show your students how to embark on learning journeys and climb the highest peaks of expertise!

In this free and insightful 45-minute webinar, James Anderson will introduce the Learning Landscape as a metaphor for learning and how you might start using it to help students to become better learners.

All participants will receive a copy of James Anderson’s white paper Learner Agency - a guide for school leaders.

Presenter information

James Anderson            

James first became interested in how to teach students to become better thinkers as a classroom teacher in the late ‘90s. Later, as a school leader, he spearheaded a national research project focused on infusing Art Costa and Bena Kallick’s Habits of Mind into schools and classrooms. He is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), presenting around Australia and overseas. As an author, he has published Succeeding with Habits of Mind and The Agile Learner, as well as numerous e-books. He has published with Art Costa and Bena Kallick Learning and Leading with Habits of Mind and Habits of Mind Across the Curriculum. His regular blogs are also read by thousands of educators around the world.
