Audience   

This learning event is right for you if you are an educator looking to learn about the Metaverse and the potential impacts of new technologies on education. The session will also be important to school leaders looking to make strategic decisions about introducing these technologies into their schools. 

Description  

The Metaverse isn't coming: it's already here. Our students are already engaging in Metaverse technologies, from Virtual, Augmented, and Extended Reality (VR, AR, and XR), to online worlds such as Roblox and Decentraland. In order to help our students safely navigate these online worlds, teachers must be informed about the platforms, technologies, and implications in education.  

The Metaverse is also more than Facebook's 'Meta', although media coverage has been dominated by the large social media companies and their adoption of the language. These companies profit from our students' data, and ensuring that students are critically literate and safe users of the platforms will help to unlock the great potential of these new technologies.
