Audience 

This learning event is right for you if you are a teacher who wants to  learn how to use multisensory instruction to help students with dyscalculia to understand number and algebra.

Description                                  

This webinar moves beyond the development of number sense and number fact recall to the teaching of other components of the Number and Algebra strand including place value, decimals and fractions, money, patterns and algebra. Participants will learn how to use multisensory instruction to help students with dyscalculia to understand these concepts. They will also learn how to develop the problem-solving skills of students with dyscalculia. The webinar will introduce participants to a variety of resources, some of them free. The webinar includes footage of instruction as well as the opportunity to work collaboratively to develop activities for the teaching of indices.

Schools are required to make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of students with disability and this includes dyscalculia.

She is a long-standing Board member of The Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation of Western Australia. Shirley has established a reputation as a caring, dynamic and innovative educator whose programs reflect both current research and a deep understanding of the needs of students with learning difficulties and disabilities. She has taught students in Years K-12 at government, Catholic and Independent schools, in Australia and in America.
