This learning event is right for you if you are a principal or senior leader who wants to gain an understanding of financials in the work environment at a basic, fundamental level
In most roles, there comes a time when you need to understand ‘the numbers’ or the financial consequences of actions in the workplace.
This two-day course aims to teach participants the fundamentals of finances within businesses, including deciphering accounting jargon and how the numbers fit with the rest of the business. The course progresses to understanding the primary financial statements of all businesses.
By equipping yourself with a financial understanding of your school, you will gain practical skills that will improve your knowledge and confidence.
Leaders with a strong understanding of all aspects of running a school place themselves in a position of greater influence and understanding.

Terry Gaven’s background is in corporate management, with an emphasis on business finance and administration. His industry experience includes management, education, hospitality, natural resource distribution, transport and tourism. Terry brings to management and leadership development a wealth of senior executive level experience. He has worked as a consultant and facilitator for the past twelve years, specialising in business management. Terry is a Fellow of CPA Australia, an Associate of the Institute of Corporate Managers, Secretaries and Administrators, an Associate – Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, plus a member of the Australian Institute of Learning Practitioners.
