This learning event is right for you if you are looking for a way to build a culture that centres on growing teacher practice in a collaborative and evidence-based way whilst supporting the autonomy of teachers to commit to strengthening their own teaching practice
Teachers taking charge of their own practice (with support) is the key to improving learning in schools. However, in an accountability driven education system this remains one of the largest challenges for schools.
This two-day action learning experience draws from the pioneering and influential work of Gavin Grift and Clare Major’s, Teachers as Architects of Learning. Teachers explore what has shaped their current practice and make sense of what this might mean for their ongoing instructional growth and one another’s. They explore how to consciously commit to building teaching wisdom, reduce the gap between what they teach with what students actually learn, delve deeper into how their beliefs about learning can both limit and strengthen their practice and commit to deliberate practice. They also learn what approaches and skills are required to support someone else to deliberately develop their teaching practice.

Janelle facilitates workshops and institutes with teachers, leaders and brings to this her wealth of experience from working at the middle school, senior school and tertiary level.
