Description
This session will provide a detailed introduction and explanation of travel risk management which allows schools to foresee the potential risks associated with travel and to ensure appropriate strategies are implemented to manage those risks. However sometimes incidents happen, and we need to respond to manage to minimise the impact. This session will explore the proactive and reactive response that a school needs to implement to mitigate and respond to an event Specifically, the course will:

Address the development and evaluation of a school’s travel policies and procedure

How to undertake a formal risk assessment and identify and implement appropriate prevention and or mitigation strategies

How to engage and manage third-party providers engage by the school to support the school deliver the excursion, camp or overseas trip

What needs to be in place to respond to an incident effectively and efficiently, and

How to effectively communicate critical information to relevant stakeholder (i.e. parents, regulators, local authorities etc.)
Discussion will include case studies and what we can learn from experiences as well as some round table exercises to discuss emerging risks and what we might now need to consider that was never an issue before.
A quick overview of how all this ties in with a travel insurance policy – before, during and after an event – will also be touched upon.
