This learning event is right for you if you are a school leader in a primary or secondary setting and are in the first two years of your role, or if you have been appointed to a leadership position but have yet to take up the role.
This program aims to equip new leaders with the skills and strategies to increase their leadership capacity in their roles. Participants will have the opportunity to explore a range of leadership elements, including:
- Building team effectiveness
- Understanding yourself to understand others
- Critical communication skills
- Managing and sustaining change.
Elements of each of these areas will be addressed through blended learning to allow for an emphasis on collaboration, discussion and customised content for each leader’s unique context.
- awareness of your personal leadership style
- techniques to build capacity to develop and motivate self and others
- skills for effective and productive team management
- strategies to engage in a range of conversations that matter
- planning for intentional changeengagement with stakeholders.
Jackie Macreadie is a Principal Consultant for Independent Schools Victoria with over 25 years’ experience in education, both in schools and universities. She has held diverse portfolios, ranging from development of international student programs, Registered Training Organisations, to leading change in schools as a school leader. Jackie has held several roles at university in a faculty and marketing management and administrative capacity, as well as lecturing in science and the Masters of Teaching for Deakin University, Monash University and Holmesglen TAFE. She has also played leading roles in the implementation of various Australian and Victorian Government education programs.
David Burton is a Principal Consultant and member of the School Improvement Team at ISV. Until recently he served as Head of Senior Campus at Woodleigh School, a role which included periods as Acting Principal, most recently during the COVID-19 crisis. David has a background in teacher coaching and professional learning, curriculum development, middle years innovation and the integration of new learning technologies into the classroom. He has particular expertise with the International Baccalaureate programs. David was IB MYP Coordinator at the International School of Paris and the Australian International School in Singapore.
As a regular conference presenter and workshop leader over the last ten years, David has led professional learning with schools and teachers across Australia and New Zealand as well as throughout Asia, Europe and Africa on a variety of areas including IB program leadership, curriculum planning and development, authentic assessment and service learning. He has delivered various conference papers. David has also completed a Master in School Leadership course, specialising in research into the efficacy of teacher collaboration.
