Description                                  

New Child Safe Standards commence on 1 July 2022. 11 new standards will replace the current 7 standards and principles. Victorian independent schools are required to comply with the new Standards. Changes have been made to support greater national consistency, reflecting the National Principles for a Child Safe Organisation developed following the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Independent schools will need to get to know the new standards, identify what changes they need to make and plan to comply by 1 July 2022.

Self-paced online modules will accompany this learning event.

Peter Roberts is currently Independent Schools Victoria’s Head of School Services, and the Company Secretary of the Victorian Independent Schools Block Grant Authority. In his roles, Peter provides advice and support to Independent schools, particularly in the areas of compliance and accountability, capital projects and school operations. He has played a leading role in implementing various Australian and Victorian Government education programs focused on school performance and infrastructure improvement. Prior to joining ISV, he spent twenty years working in Victorian secondary schools as a teacher and Assistant Principal.
