This learning event is right for you if you monitor and create social media content, or are wanting to create a social media presence, for your school and are interested in how your school might engage effectively with various platforms.


Social media is a valuable platform for schools to promote events and accomplishments as well as to communicate with and beyond the school community. Done well it can engage users, promote what your school does well, connect people in your community and attract enrolments. Schools using social media also need to be wary of some of the dangers and pitfals to ensure that they stay in control of the messaging. In this one hour webinar we will look at the connection between social media and traditional news media. We’ll also explore how to make the most of social media platforms to celebrate, raise awareness and effectively communicate the brilliant things happening in your school.

Tom Hyland      

Tom Hyland provides media and communications support to the Chief Executive, ISV staff and Member Schools. He is an experienced journalist and media advisor, having worked in the news media, in higher education and in a government agency.




Lauren Finadri                

Lauren Finadri is Independent Schools Victoria’s Social Media Coordinator. At ISV, Lauren creates content and manages a range of different platforms to enhance social media performance and metrics. Lauren has a Bachelor of Media and Communications and has experience working for a variety of companies. Lauren is passionate about social media, being able to share her knowledge with others and working to further develop a brand’s online presence.
