This learning event is right for you if you are keen to grow your knowledge and understanding of contemporary formative assessment theory and practices in your classroom. You might be an experienced teacher who wants to develop your mastery or a new teacher who wants to revisit key content from your pre-service days.
Formative assessment is any assessment that is used to improve teaching and learning. It offers significant benefits, yielding rich and ongoing information to feedback to both students and teachers. Students identify their strengths and areas that require more work. Teachers monitor progress and adjust their teaching to meet the needs of their students. A better understanding of formative assessment theory and strategies enhances the impact of our teaching.
“When teachers do formative assessment effectively, students learn at roughly double the rate than they do without it” Dylan Wiliam
