This interactive workshop will allow participants to discover strategies for juggling the demands of leading schools, while balancing the various expectations of education authorities and the public. If we are to sustain our profession, with leaders whose well-being can be managed and ideally enhanced, then we need strategies to build positive relationships with the various stakeholders, within all the protocols in which educators work.

Emphasis will be placed on on developing strategies that will have a positive impact on educator wellbeing while being realistic and sustainable in the long term. Improved well-being allows for improved personal and professional dispositions. In turn this results in improved performance, which leads to better teaching and learning for students. Presenter information

Andrew Oberthur

Andrew Oberthur is a father of two young adults and a primary school educator with over 36 years' experience, the last 24 as principal across 4 primary schools in Southeast Queensland. Andrew is the author of three books: Are You Ready for School?, Balance, and The School Leadership Juggle.

Andrew hopes the dialogue his three books create will add to the educational landscape and keep people grounded in reality. He wishes to keep educator well-being as a guiding principle when sharing his ideas around balancing and juggling.

Andrew is also an accredited Executive Coach (Growth Coaching International) and accredited Debriefer with GENOS International. He has been a regular contributor to Teachers Matters (journal from New Zealand) and Education Today (published in Australia). He has been on ABC Radio numerous times in recent years and c contributed to various educational blogs and webinars.
