Description

Gifted and Talented students’ advocate and educator, Katie Tribe (The Inclusive School), will present theories of giftedness, asynchronous development, and the characteristics, experiences and profiles of students who are intellectually gifted, have high intellectual potential, and/or may be gifted learning-disabled. 

This will be accompanied by strategies to: 

  • identify gifted students
  • create classroom conditions that are optimal for student engagement and personal growth
  • support the development of school-wide policies and provisions for a formalised approach and a comprehensive program for students with high intellectual potential

With a view to unlocking and supporting the growth of gifted students, the following will also be explored:

  • curriculum differentiation
  • acceleration
  • extension and enrichment
  • recommended approaches to supporting the emotional and social development of a gifted learner, working together with families in support and celebration of their unique abilities

Katie supports learners to build self-efficacy and unlock hidden talent and potential. Skilled in assessment, policy development, curriculum and intervention; she is deeply committed to ensuring all students have an equal opportunity to education no matter their learning needs.
