School Leader, Primary Teacher

We all want to imagine ourselves as expert teachers who can manage most classroom behaviours. We want to believe that we can have respectful relationships with students and that they are excited to come to class and behave in civil and productive ways. Some of us may view behaviour management as an ‘art form’ rather than a ‘systematic process’ that needs to be established, practised and reviewed constantly.

How do really good teachers make classroom management look effortless? What are the basics of most effective discipline systems? The key to any positive and engaging behaviour management system is that it must be ‘values’ driven and have a ‘relational’ focus to build a robust classroom community and to maximise academic outcomes.

This workshop will assist you to create and update your own classroom management model based on Positive Behaviour Development.

Key takeaways

  • behaviour management approaches which are humanistic and have a focus on relationships
  • strategies to teach more and manage student behaviour less
  • an explicit framework of effective behaviour strategies that delivers on consistency.
