Description
Research overwhelmingly indicates that positive student outcomes and wellbeing are strongly influenced by teacher wellbeing, which in turn is shaped by the wellbeing of school leaders and executives. To help build healthier and more resilient school communities, CARE-EL supports school leaders to develop social and emotional skills while strengthening their own wellbeing. The CARE-EL program delivers tailored training and support that focuses on resilience and wellbeing to improve leadership skills, self-reflection, and self-care.
CARE-EL’s 2-day program includes:
Topics such as:
- work-life balance for wellbeing, emotional labour in leadership, and planning for extending wellbeing to the educational community;
- Mindful stress management skills and practices e.g. mindful breathing and mindful listening;
- Activities to cultivate emotional awareness and regulation, and compassion for self and others

Presenter Information

Sabrina Doyle Fosco
Sebrina L. Doyle Fosco, has a PhD in Educational Leadership and is currently an Assistant Professor in Human Development and Family Studies at the Pennsylvania State University. For the last 15 years, her research and practice has focused on promoting flourishing in educational and community settings. She is a facilitator and master trainer for Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE), an evidence-based program that supports educators in mindful stress management, emotion regulation, and compassionate responding. Dr. Doyle Fosco has published widely factors that affect teacher and leader wellbeing. She recently redesigned CARE for educational leaders and is leading the research grant examining its impact on leaders’ health, wellbeing, and effectiveness.
