Description 

This is an opportunity to ensure that you understand and are prepared to observe applicants of the National Certification of Teachers (HALT). Your observation is an important source of evidence for the HALT applicant in the National Certification of Teachers process.  

HALT observers: 

  • describe quality teaching and impact using a shared and precise language of practice 

  • differentiate highly effective or LEAD teachers using the Classroom Practice Continuum

  • assist teachers to self-assess their current practice 

  • use a common instrument for locating evidence of teacher practice   

  • identify levels aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers' career stages for registration and certification processes. 

  • identify benchmarks for external accreditation.
