Description                                  

Whether you’re aiming to harness the media to reach a wider audience, enhance existing marketing and communications activities or speak during a crisis, media training can support you to do this with confidence and clarity. Armed with an understanding of how the media and journalists operate, you can help promote your agenda and reinforce your position while adhering to your school’s media policy and protocols.

This full day online workshop will be tailored to the needs of participants and they will have the opportunity to develop key messaging on scenarios suggested by them. Participants will also take part in an individual media interview and be provided with immediate feedback. The focus of the day is on practical skills to build confidence when dealing with the media. The group size is limited to eight participants.

Doug Weller     

Doug has gathered his skills, knowledge and experience from specialist media roles in Australia, the United States and the Asia Pacific Region.

He has represented broadcasters, state governments, corporate organisations, executive networks, statutory bodies, community enterprises, universities and training organisations.

His roles have included Bureau Chief, Executive Producer, Editor, Chief of Staff, National Reporter, National Television and Radio Presenter, Newsreader, ABC Washington Correspondent, ABC Canberra Correspondent and Journalism Lecturer.

Doug also judges various awards and provides expert advice to several committees for higher education in the field of journalism.
