This learning event is right for you if you are a teacher who wants to learn how to assist a student with dyslexia-related numeracy difficulties to master components of the Number and Algebra strand.
Description
This webinar focuses on topic-specific strategies that can be used to help the student with dyslexia-related numeracy difficulties to master components of the Number and Algebra strand. Participants will look at activities and resources that can aid recall of number facts and procedures, and understanding of fractions, algebra and time. The emphasis will be on visual strategies, kinaesthetic experiences and whole-to-part learning.
Schools are required to make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of students with disability and this includes dyslexia.
This learning event supports creating best practice toward meeting the following VRQA standard(s):
- Curriculum and Student Learning – Student learning outcomes
- The minimum standards for schools offering a senior secondary course – Student learning outcomes.

She is a long-standing Board member of The Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation of Western Australia. Shirley has established a reputation as a caring, dynamic and innovative educator whose programs reflect both current research and a deep understanding of the needs of students with learning difficulties and disabilities. She has taught students in Years K-12 at government, Catholic and Independent schools, in Australia and in America.
