Description                    

Participation in this full-day face-to-face event will enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) policies and processes and strengthen their confidence to successfully document and implement them appropriately in their school. Participants will increase their knowledge and skills around effective leadership while considering how to effectively lead and manage staff with diverse responsibilities and discuss how they might overcome some of the challenges associated with the role through guidance from experienced VCE leaders. They will also acquire strategies to enhance the wellbeing of their VCE students, develop relationships with key staff and utilise opportunities to network with VCE Coordinators and Heads of VCE in other Independent Schools.

Presenter information

Julie Baud

Julie Baud is a Principal Consultant and member of the School Improvement Team at Independent Schools Victoria. With over 30 years’ experience in independent school education in Victoria, South Australia, the ACT and the United Kingdom, she has held a number of senior leadership roles with responsibility for teaching and learning, curriculum, wellbeing and behaviour management, including Principal, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principal and Head of School. As an experienced leader, Julie has worked in very diverse settings, including boarding and residential in both regional and metropolitan areas, and has led and implemented significant change within both existing and new schools.

 

Megan Unthank

Megan Unthank is currently Head of VCE at an ISV Member School and took on this role after two years as the school’s first VCE Coordinator. Megan has now had extensive involvement with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and leading the VCE program in her school and can provide many examples from her experience of stepping into her VCE leadership role for the first time four years ago.
