Description
The first in the AI & Digital Skills for School Operations series, this is a foundation session demystifying generative AI for staff who keep schools running. By the end, participants will be able to choose the right tool for the job, write effective prompts, and use AI safely within school policy.
Participants will learn:
- What generative AI is and what it isn't
- Common tools at a glance: ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Google Gemini
- Realistic use cases in administration, finance, reception, and operations roles
- Strengths, limitations, and risks (including hallucinations and bias)
- The art and science of prompting - clarity, context, examples, and iterationWhat information should never be entered into AI tools (privacy, student data, confidentialrecords)
In-session practice
Hands-on prompt practice using a sample school admin scenario.
Follow-up webinar
Share early wins and stumbles. Group troubleshooting on prompts that didn't work, and a refresher on safe-use boundaries.
